DONG RYUL. KIM先生畢業於美國紐約時裝學院，2008年建立了自己的品牌「RYUL +WAI:」，而且也常常受邀出席很多時裝走秀活動，現任韓國SASADA時尚學院教授。

Mr. DONG RYUL. KIM graduated from Fashion Institute of Technology, State University of New York. He has established his brand “RYUL +WAI:” in 2008 and has been invited to participate many Fashion Runway Shows. Now he is a professor in SASADA Fashion School.

1. 你是什麼時候喜歡上時裝設計的？

When did your passion for fashion design started?

謝謝你對RYUL+WAI:這個品牌感興趣。在我20歲（即2000年）之前我喜歡的是插畫，但是對時尚感興趣的卻是在20歲的時候。我在大學是主修服裝設計與實際服裝及面料的，之後發現自己對衣服和時尚的有更大的興趣。

Thank you very much for your interest in our brand “RYUL+WAI:”. Actually, I began to be interested in fashion when I was 20 years old(in 2000). Before that, my biggest hobby was illustrations. And I was majoring in fashion design and the actual fabric during my college so that I developed another new talent in clothes and trend through the figure in my textbook.

2. 你會怎麼形容你的設計？

In what way would you describe your designs?

品牌RYUL+WAI:最重要的部分是表達了溝通的設計， WAI是利用字母Y的諧音，而WAI的意思可視為「你」，同時也廣義地包含了時代理念和文化的意思。換句話說，RYUL+WAI可以放大「溝通」的意義，因為你和你的對話正在令一個時代出現。

It is a dominant part of RYUL+WAI: for the design of Communication. WAI used the spelling of the word Y which shows “you” can be applied to a broad sense such as the concept of times and culture. In another words, that is, RYUL+WAI can enlarge the meaning of Communication. Because the conversation between you and yourself will make the times happen.

3. 你作為一個時裝設計師同時也是一個學校教授，你認為兩個身分有什麼分別？

You are a fashion designer also a fashion school professor, what is the difference between them?

我認為這兩個身份具有相同的觀念；作為一個時裝設計師，當我們致力於品牌指導和服裝設計時，安妮是作主要的溝通工作。不管怎樣，兩個身分都是在做一樣的事情：就是設計以及教導學生，並透過一些活動令他們進步。

Great minds think alike. As a dress designer, when we are engaged in guiding brand and designing clothes, ANNE is the main driver. However, they do the same thing: designing and teaching students,which, improving themselves through the activity.

4. 作為一個教授，你能對一些喜愛時尚的學生說一些鼓勵的話嗎？

As a professor, could you say something to encourage the students who love fashion?

對學生們的建議有很多；首先是他們對時間的觀念，其中一個原因是我覺得時間對每個人來說都是平等的，都是每天24小時，因此學生們應該要充分意識到怎樣運用時間去實現（他們的）目標。沒有付出，就沒有收穫。此外，最新穎的時裝不僅僅是這個時代的代表，更是在強調，所有的時尚文化以及服裝產業能因此而實現最優化。而這些故事的靈感來自於我們「專家」，即那些主修服裝設計的學生們。

We received lots of suggestion from students. Firstly is what they think towards the concept of time. One of the reason is I myself think time is fair to everyone. Thus, our students are more aware of how to make use of time to achieve success. No pain, no gain. Furthermore, the up-to-date clothes is not only just to present this era,but to emphasize: All the fashionable culture center as well as the most industry can be make advantage of. These stories were all inspired by our “expert”--- those students who major in clothes design.

5. 你多次受邀出席韓國時裝周，請問你可否和我們分享一些項目演出中有趣的故事？

You have been invited to participate Seoul Fashion Week many times. So, any funny stories that you would like to share with our readers regarding any of your design projects you performed?

他們小小年紀就首次在時裝舞臺走秀了，所以當我們談到後臺時，大部分的人都不知道RYUL+WAI:，安妮和我也討論過很多次。除此之外他們還因為缺乏經驗而弄錯模特兒的尺寸，很多情節都讓我回憶起當時的舞臺：我們希望能從後臺中找尋到模特兒，而不是從展覽中得到。而且我會再在排練前為我的鞋子作徹底的檢查。

They first gave a showtime when they was young. So when we were talking about BACKSTAGE, most people still had no idea on RYUL+WAI:. ANNE and I had discussed a thousand times. Besides, they mistaken the model’s size because of lacking of experience. And many of that plots brought my memories back to the stage: We hope BACKSTAGE should be got from model but not from the exhibition. I made a thorough inspection of my shoes before the rehearsal.

6. 請問你現在有正在進行或將要在日後準備進行的項目嗎？

Any other projects you are working on now or will start working in the future?

現在的工作由始至終地證明了，這是一項共同傳達現在和未來的重要項目，對韓國、中國、法國和香港等國家的許多人來說，這是RYUL+WAI:和安妮相互努力的成果。（目前香港和法國擁有RYUL+WAI:衣服的銷售點和品牌）。我們由衷地希望我們能夠與音樂和藝術方面有不同的聯繫和合作。

The present work continuously prove that it is a significant project for now and future to communicate together. As for many people in Korea, China, France and Hong Kong, it is the mutual efforts between RYUL+WAI: and ANNE.(So far, Hong Kong and France possess the sale and brand of RYUL+WAI: clothes. )

Fashion, we sincerely hope that we can reach different connection and collaboration in music and arts.
