However, once you step into Ophelia’s mysterious area and walk through the huge arched door you will immediately be attracted by a beautiful peacock, as if being in a wonderland of dream. With a glass of cocktail, you feel like you already entered into a carefree paradise and escaped from the busy and stressful reality
Soul of Birds
Ophelia is located in Lee Tung Street Wan chai. You will see two huge peacocks as soon as you enter the bar. Look around, you will find that all the designs are related to peacocks. There are hand painted works, tiles with replica peacock feather patterns and colors, artistic works made of copper and stainless steel.
Bangkok’s famous interior designer Ashley Sutton designed the interior. In order to let guests have a different visual experience in different rooms, Sutton uses oriental screens that are inspired by traditional Chinese garden arched doors to separate each area. Visitors will feel that there is always a surprise behind each door. In addition, there are over 600,000 hand painted tiles with peacock feathers patterns and colors. The whole environment is so beautiful and splendid for the eye; a unique place of the bar may be the special “smoking terrace”. Walls and ceilings of the whole terrace are made of steel, which creates a complete different atmosphere. There is a “opium pipe” in the smoking terrace. Guests can lie on the side of sofa, which reminds people in a high-class tobacco house from the old times. Waitresses wearing cheongsam walk gracefully, just like muses in the bar.
Ophelia除了著重視覺設計，亦相當著重味覺的享受。酒吧的雞尾酒單同樣引人注目，為了營造異國風情，調酒師運用香氣四溢的亞洲香草、香料和水果創作出各式的雞尾酒。招牌雞尾酒包括以日本岩井威士忌、Baika Ranman梅酒以及自家製綠茶酒調製而成The Jade Cat。另外，以巴西賽格提芭甘蔗酒 、血橙、青檸、香炙辣椒菠蘿及綠茶巧克力調製而成的Le Plumage同樣令人有驚喜。要說最吸引人注意的，必定是Cheongasm，此雞尾酒以僕薩多龍舌蘭、自家製石榴甜酒、皇家甜苦艾酒、檸檬、青檸及肉桂調製而成，造型亦非常吸引人注視，雞尾酒以雀籠盛載，無論是視覺還是味覺，都是作為雞尾酒迷不得不「朝聖」的美酒。
Ophelia not only focuses on visual designs, but also pays much attention in taste enjoyment, with a cocktail list from the bar that is quite inviting. In order to create an exotic atmosphere, bartenders use scented Asian herbs, spices and fruits to make different kinds of cocktails. Famous “The Jade Cat” is mixed with Japan Iwai whisky, Baika Ranman Ume Shu and house-made bitter green tea liqueur. Le Plumage is also a surprise, which is made with sagatiba cachaça, blood orange, gold slab syrup, shisandra dram, lime, chili infused charred pineapple and green tea chocolate. The most attractive must be Cheongasm, which is made with tequila reposado, house-made pomegranate cordial, la quintinye vermouth rouge, lemon, lime and cinnamon. The cocktail is put in a birdcage, looking very beautiful. No mater if it’s for visual or taste experience, it is a must-try cocktail!
